When you are designing or renovating your home, things like window treatments may not be at the top of your list of important pieces. We are here to say that window treatments are very important for a space. Poorly chosen window treatments can make a room feel cold and unwelcoming. Window treatments can enhance your personal style and tie the room together. There are many different options depending on what you are trying to accomplish. Here are some window treatment design tips!

Let’s Get Started

What is the purpose of the room?

For the bedroom, you may want room darkening curtains. For other rooms, you may actually want to accentuate natural light. Maybe you’re looking for privacy, unique designs, or convenience. Knowing the purpose makes it easier to find the right window treatments. Otherwise, there are lots of options and it can be overwhelming.

The two main choices come down to shades or drapery. They both can be excellent complements to enhance the style of your space. You can also combine shades and drapes. We are using a lot of panels and sunshades in our interior design projects. Like we said, the possibilities are endless!

Shutters are great for letting in light and come in all different colors to complement your space. They are not the best at blocking out light, though, so you may not want to put them in the bedroom.

Woven wood roman shades are a fabulous way to add texture to a room and complement the surrounding interiors. They are also good for blocking out light if you add a privacy lining.

Full length drapery panels are great for blocking out light at night, and make for a great eye catching fixture during the day. You can get really creative with colors, patterns and fabrics. Make sure your drapery panels go floor to ceiling to create the illusion of height.
