Having your entire home renovated? While this is an exciting time, it also can be a very stressful endeavor. Here at Trade Mark Interiors we love doing full home renovations in Sarasota and the surrounding area. We have a lot of expert tips to share with you on how to survive a home renovation!

Home Renovation Tips for Homeowners

Have a realistic timeframe: This tip applies to any interior design project, home build, remodel, etc. Sometimes things take longer than anticipated. Sometimes supplies do not arrive when they are supposed to. Being flexible is really important. Our team will also make sure that you are kept up-to-date on what is going on.

Keep things clean. There will be a lot of dust and odors flying around during a home renovation. Make sure your living areas are properly sealed off to prevent dust and debris from getting in. Also remember to secure anything valuable or easily breakable as workers may accidentally bump into furniture and other things.

Adjust your living space. If you are only remodeling a room or two in your home, make sure you have space to live as normally as you can during the project. This might mean moving your microwave and toaster into another room if your kitchen is being remodeled. Make sure there is a dedicated area for garbage disposal. You may want to consider staying with a friend or in a hotel.

Call in the pros: Our team of interior designers in Sarasota work with your contractor to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.

These are just a few renovation tips for homeowners from our team! To give you an example of needing to be flexible, for one of our full home renovation projects a couch we ordered currently has a 28 week lead time. 28 weeks! This is something that is very frustrating but out of anyone’s control. These are the kinds of things that can happen during a renovation where patience is appreciated.

If you are interested in doing a home renovation in Sarasota or the surrounding area, we recommend that you start planning sooner rather than later! Give us a call at Trade Mark Interiors and we would be happy to discuss your renovation plans.
